Hagg Double

Long time no update!

My next race will be the Hagg Double. It’s a 50k on February 18th and then a 25k on the 19th. This race is considered a mud fest with little elevation gain so it should be a fun time. To prepare I’m just upping my mileage on consecutive days, so longer runs pretty much.

After that I’ll do the Alsea Spring Fling. I’ve done that race 3 times and each time I’ve improved substantially. I got 2nd in the fall version of the race so I expect to do pretty well.

I’m not sure what races I’ll be doing after that.

Salmonberry Railroad

What a fun trip!

My new pal Sarah and I went to the Tillamook forest to explore. We came across a closed railroad and trail called the Salmonberry.

If you take Highway 6 along the Wilson River you can hit some pretty rad trails to run. We hit Gales and University on day one, only about 8 miles or so.

The first night we didn’t get camp setup until it was dark. We were too busy driving this ridiculous road, Tin Shack Road. I’ve driven a lot of logging roads but this was a bad one. Washboard, digouts, slides, etc. It was just bad. It took a lot longer then I thought it would. We did get to see an amazing sunset though.

The sunset made the road worth it.

Camp was fun. Sarah is an easy person to camp with. We made rice with avocado for dinner. It was tasty.

The next day we ran the closed railroad. That was an interesting experience. That railroad is quite overgrown.

Believe it or not that’s a spot that wasn’t very overgrown. Many spots we were hitting branches and vines out of our faces. Our legs were somewhat cut up.

Overall it was a very fun second date with Sarah.

You've reached the end.
