I drove over to Woods Creek Trailhead this morning to do a lil hard run on Chintimini. I’ve been enjoying the 2005 road lately. I put together a fun lil loop. I’ve been hitting this route occasionally over the last few years to see my progression. Today I decided to do it in sub 2 hour.
This run can be broken up into 3 sections: Road(2005), Up(East ridge), Down(North ridge).
Starting at Woods Creek Trailhead, 2005 road is a fun 3.4 mile 900 foot climb. It’s all runnable, but it’s tough. 2005 goes to east ridge trail which is then a 2.4 mile climb 1300 foot climb. After that you’re pretty much at the summit and the real fun can begin: bombing down north ridge. This is 4.2 mile downhill bomb, losing about 2200 feet, back to Woods Creek Trailhead.
I managed to snag 3rd on the strava segment leaderboard for this. So that’s rad. I think I can get this segment. I need to make up 6 minutes. I can do that on 2005 road and a few parts of the east ridge climb. I can always squeeze out a few more minutes on the north ridge descent, too. So, I definitely think it’s doable.
